The 90 S And 1950 S America's Teacher Education Curriculum Reform

Nearly five-year teacher education curriculum reform has occurred in the America since1950s. Based on the proper teacher education ideas, it mainly solves the teacher education curriculum, improving the quality of teacher education. The reason why it succeeds in the field of teacher education can come to two factors:one is the effort of teacher education researchers. They devote themselves to studying and advocating their ideas. So new methods of curriculum reform can go on well in teacher education; the other one is the effort of people in teacher schools and teacher educational institutions who implement the idea. They endeavor to agree on the teacher education idea, and then make great progress in practice. By this means, they have made great contributions for the entire American teacher education reform.At this point, from1950s to1990s, through the evolution of American teacher education curriculum reform, it is necessary for us to draw deep lessons and conclude the positive points.This paper can be divided in to three parts mainly as followings:First of all, this research is based on the division of the main teacher education ideas in each phase. So it can be divided in to three phases since1950s—the teacher education curriculum reform under pedagogical knowledge idea, the teacher education curriculum reform under professional skills and the teacher education curriculum reform under teacher professionalization.Then, a deep analysis and research on the teacher education curriculum reform in three phases respectively will be added, finding out the close relationship between the idea and the practice in curriculum. The academic curriculum is emphasized under pedagogical knowledge idea, then the curriculum on professional skills is stressed under the idea of professional skill and the curriculum blending is promoted under teacher professionalization.Finally, from the evolution of American teacher education curriculum reform, we can draw great lessons and analyze the advantages, guiding our teacher education curriculum reform.
