Urban Teacher Residency program is the latest reform achievements of America teacher education,and reputation as” the third way” of America teacher education.As the latest achievements of America teacher education reform,UTR learn from the way to cultivation of clinicians,absorbed the experience and deficiency from other teacher education model,provide effective teachers for urban school districts.UTR has solved the problem successfully which puzzled urban school long time that difficult to recruit and retain excellent teachers,and has improved the education quality of urban districts and the student achievements.This research focuses on introduce and summarize UTR program,use Denver public school teacher residency program(DTR)and Aspire public school teacher residency program(ATR)as cases to deeply study,comparison,analysis the process of UTR Model.My aim is give suggestion for China's teacher education and rural weak districts.In this study,first of all,introduced the background and current progress of UTR Model,such as the structural shortage of American teachers,the backward of traditional teacher training model,the defects of selective teacher education model and the lack of professional development schools.Secondly,explores the training conceptions and goals of UTR Model,for example,the medical clinical practice of teacher education concept,cognitive apprenticeship teacher education idea and reflection on practice of teacher education concept.And then,use DTR and ATR as examples to understand the really process of UTR Model and contrast,analysis and summarizes its success experience.The next,based on DTR and ATR,summed up UTR Model's four characteristics and four results,the four characteristics includes the integration of theory and practice,the effective guidance about one-on-one,service for primary school districts and the integration of teacher education.The four results are improved the urban district teacher retention rate;provided high quality teachers for urban district;solved the structural shortage and improved students' learning ability and performance.The end is rely on the above all,provide suggestions for our country teacher education and teacher education in rural and weak areas.Including exploring and developing the function of education primary and secondary school;Updating education ideas,pay attention to teachers "clinical" education;Promoting the integration of post-career training;encouraging primary and secondary school teachers join in the cultivation of teachers' education;And provide high quality teacher for rural weak school and promote the education fair.
