Subject learning is one of the four fields in math in junior middle school, which is also the product of the new curriculum reform. It provides students with an inquiry-based learning, and it aims to train students how to use knowledge to solve problems. Its value and significance are far-reaching. It must be paid more attention by teachers, especially in the largest population’s rural countries.This article is based on junior middle schools in the countries, Ningde. The author investigates the present situation of math subject learning and difficulties. The author puts forward some good methods. According to staff questionnaire and interview of administrators, teachers, students and parents, the author discovers the following problems:They don’t understand the real meaning of subject learning.They don’t pay much attention to subject learning.Some reasons which come from teachers and students themselves cause the unsatisfactory results.There are some difficulties, such as the stress of entering a high school, being short of fee, poor resources and so on.As for those problems, the author puts forward some strategies. First, change people’s mind. Second, spend more money. Third, develop subject resources. Fourth, place importance on training teachers. Fifth use the effective strategies. Sixth, complete the evaluation system.This article also shows that it is necessary to carry out math subject learning in rural countries. Hope that more and more people will understand the situation of the math subject learning. Hope more and more junior middle schools will find a proper way to carry out the math subject learning in order to make curriculum reform successful and make our students develop well.
