:Social development has placed new demands for improved methodology in primary school English education. This methodology is based upon student centered development curriculum reform. It places more emphasis on oral communication in the classroom and a new teaching style that is more interactive with the students.However, the most important objective of said new methodology, is the development of the students’self-confidence and positive mental attitude towards self study.Traditional teaching methods do not allow scope for achieving the same goals.In the past, more attention was paid to the knowledge of the written grammatical English. The students’ ability of oral communication was ignored in favor of correct grammar.A number of students can’t communicate smoothly with each other in simple English after having spent years studying English at school.Foreigners once referred of our Chinese students’ English as’ mute English’.To change’ mute English’into’spoken English’,it requires an emphasis places on oral development in the classroom.In this paper, the importance of oral English as nonverbal communication and an improved method of teaching will be discussed. It will attempt to set out the relevant basic concepts and theoretical basis for the communicative functions of English, followed by the possible methods of English education for the improvement of the oral English framework in a classroom-based activity approach that will have the ability to improve students’ communicative competence in English.This paper specifically concentrates on English education in primary schools.
