Speaking is an important part of everyday activities, so it is necessary to give the students the situations of daily life by designing certain tasks. Task-Based Language Teaching(TBLT) has been widely applied to the English teaching. Therefore, teaching oral English through TBLT is essential for us. One of the important features of TBLT is to introduce the teaching material into the real learning situations in which the students can learn English easily. So we should combine TBLT with teaching speaking and bring teaching texts into learning speaking. Speaking happens in our daily life. When we teach oral English, we must design speaking tasks on purpose. If the students are quite familiar with the topics the teachers choose from daily life, they will be more interested and more involved in them. We all know it’s very important for English teachers to evoke the students’ interests.TBLT also has other features, such as emphasizing on learning to communicate through interaction; providing opportunities for students to focus, not just on the language, but on the learning process; attempting to link language learning in the classroom with the language activation outside the classroom. All in all, task is an activity with a certain purpose from daily life. When teaching oral English, we must remember that we should create a situation related to real life attempting to link the classroom language learning with the language activation outside the classroom. As a tentative attempt, this thesis will study the way of applying TBLT to oral English teaching in China’s senior high schools, as much as the author’s ability can reach, with a main purpose of showing the importance and possibility of implementing effectively tasks designed for oral English teaching in class. In the end, the conclusion proves that TBLT is practical and beneficial to oral English teaching in China where English is taught as a foreign language.
