The new curriculum reform is going to greater depth, which brings forward to the new requirements for the contents of English teaching. Under the implementation of new curriculum standards, the present situation is not optimistic about English Teaching in the Senior High School; especially great problems exist in English grammar teaching of Senior High School. English grammar teaching is always indispensable and important constituent in our English teaching of Middle School for a long time. The methods of English grammar teaching vary across the teachers, teaching methods and students. The traditional English grammar teaching centers on teachers. However, the students are forced to learn, which not only neglect the development of independent learning ability, but also drop the interest and motivation of English grammar learning. The exploration and study of the Task-based English grammar teaching should be a subject worthy of study in English teaching in order to change the status of English grammar teaching and improve the quality of the teaching of English grammar.In the thesis, the author studies new course standard and the present situation of English grammar teaching in the Senior high school, analyzes the existing problems in English grammar teaching and brings forward to a mode of Task-based English grammar teaching which is fit for English grammar teaching of Senior high school according to the experiment. Task-based English grammar teaching puts the cultivation of students’ communicative competence the important place, but it doesn’t repel grammar teaching. The author applies the task-based language teaching to the English grammar teaching of Senior high school and demonstrates the practicability and effectiveness of Task-based English grammar teaching of Senior high school according to researching into the principles, functions and teaching modes of Task-based language teaching, the present situations of study at home and abroad and the theoretical basis of applying Task-based language teaching and at the same time analyzing the present situation of Task-based English grammar teaching. The research methods of this thesis mainly involve the approach of literature review, empirical approach, questionnaire survey, statistical method and method of comparative analysis. In this thesis, a research was conducted on English grammar in order to probe into the validity and feasibility of the Task-based instruction in senior one of Guang An Middle School in Sichuan. One hundred and eighteen students participated in the experiment. There are fifty eight students in the experimental class and sixty students in the controlled class. Task-based English grammar teaching was used in the experimental class, while in the controlled class, traditional grammar teaching approach was applied. This experiment lasted fifteen weeks. After the experiment, the author analyzed the data gained from the research by SPSS software. On the basis of a large number of experimental data, the author demonstrates that Task-based English grammar teaching can have a better effect than traditional approach through the analysis of what is drawn from the experimental teaching and the questionnaire and Task-based English grammar teaching also helps to facilitate the interest and motivation of students to learn grammar.
