The ideological and political education in China is growing complex and difficult andfacing both challenges and opportunities due to a tremendous shock to ideological valuesof post-80s and post-90s university students. They are no longer satisfied with traditionalinertial thinking, but exploring more new knowledge from the third media; as well as nolonger with what are engrafted at the classroom, but more looking forward to master theskills from the practice in the context of today’s global economic globalization, China’sconstantly expanding opening-up and in-depth development of the socialist marketeconomy and interwoven thoughts at home and abroad. Therefore, it is particularlyimportant to explore how to make university students’ ideological and political educationmore effective and well-directed and to develop new work methods and carriers under thenew situation.On the other hand, China’s career planning education for university students hasentered a new rapid development stage from the beginning of the21st century. Especiallyin recent years with a severe employment situation, university students are more and moreaware of the importance of early career planning. At this time, our ideological and politicaleducation can actually back to real life by combining the career planning education,eventually achieving the comprehensive development of university students. This is notonly an effective approach targeting the comprehensive development and enhancing theusefulness of ideological and political education, but also a new method combining theirideological problems with actual issues and inspiring university students to educate,manage and experience themselves, and even a new trend in line with the development ofthe times and satisfying the demand of social harmony.In view of the above, this paper discusses the internal relation between careereducation and ideological and political education, describes how they can be effectivelycombined and elaborates the strategies, ideas and guarantee mechanism for thecombination by analyzing the problems and reasons concerning career education andideological and political education in today’s social development and the necessity andfeasibility of the integration, in order to realize the sustainable development of the education works, to actually make those education behaviors and measures arouse a strongresonance among university students, to enhance their initiative and consciousness inideological education and career choosing processes and to strengthen the effectiveness ofideological and political education.The paper is divided into five parts:Part1is an introduction that describes the importance of effective combination ofcareer education and ideological and political education by introducing the researchbackground of the paper as well as the current research situations, approaches and methodsat home and abroad.Part2further explores the current situations concerning ideological and politicaleducation and career education in China’s universities by explaining the existing problemsand their reasons.Part3discusses the necessity and feasibility on the combination. In this part, thenecessity is demonstrated by the doctrine of Marxism, ideological and political work itself,employment situation and the needs of both theoretical studies, and the feasibility by thegoals, functions and interaction in educational contents of the two types of education. Itclearly pointed out that the doctrine of Marxism should be the theoretical foundation andguiding ideology of China’s career education for university students, and that thecombination should be target-minded, effective, attractive and appealing.Part4clarifies the effective solutions and visions to the combination. In this part, theplatform, mechanism and system for the effective combination are set forth from suchaspects as the educated subject, the ways and means of education, as well as ideologicaland political education itself, to further analyze the feasibility of the effective combination.Part5describes a mechanism ensuring the effective combination. This part discusseshow to implement the mechanism from the three aspects-organizational system, factoranalysis, and team building to promote the organic combination.
