Classical Chinese is an ancient Chinese written language to express the ancients’ thoughts, which is an important form of inheritance and crystallization of thousands of years’Chinese civilization. Classical Chinese is also an integral content of Chinese textbook in junior middle school, because it can help students to improve their ability to read the ancient writings and deepen their understanding of our Chinese cultures. With the deepening of the reform of Chinese Curriculum, classical Chinese has got more and more attention in junior middle school. However, there are still some problems existing in the current classical Chinese teaching. For examples:the principle status of students in classical Chinese teaching can not be affirmed; the homework assignments and test mode still lag. This thesis is aimed at analyzing the current situation of classical Chinese teaching、the causes and putting forward some suggestions on the teaching method and test mode based on the analysis of the position and the function of classical Chinese in Chinese teaching in junior middle schools.This thesis consists of six chapters:Chapter1is a brief introduction to the causes of the title selections, literature reviews and research thoughts of this paper based on the problems existing in the current classical Chinese teaching in junior middle schools, especially in rural areas.Chapter2explores the values and significance of classical Chinese in Chinese teaching. This part firstly points out the teaching values of classical Chinese, that is, cultural value、educational value and artistic value. And then the paper analyzes the significance of classical Chinese for Chinese teaching and students in junior middle schools.Chapter3discusses the current situations of classical Chinese teaching in junior middle schools. This part firstly lists some problems existing in the current classical Chinese teaching in rural junior middle schools based on the requirements of Curriculum Standards for Chinese on the classical Chinese teaching, and then analyzes the reasons for these problems. The last part of this chapter presents the significance of the classical Chinese teaching in junior middle schools.Chapter4discusses the need for a student-centered teaching pattern in the classical Chinese teaching reforms in junior middle schools from the following three aspects:1. The definition and the theoretical basis for student’s subjectivity.2. How to develop student’s subjectivity?3. The significance of student’s subjectivity in the classical Chinese teaching in junior middle schools.Chapter5explores the ways of improving the classical Chinese teaching in junior middle schools. By analyzing three distinguished teachers’teaching experience of classical Chinese, this paper provides four efficient ways of improving the classical Chinese teaching in junior middle schools, including the reform of teaching ideas and teaching methods, the guidance for students’autonomous learning, and the further development of traditional teaching methods.Chapter6discusses the selections of the classical Chinese text、homework assignments and the test mode. The problems existing in the selections of the classical Chinese text、homework assignments and the test mode will be revealed and some suggestions will also be put forward in this part.
