This thesis intended to analyse Southeast Asia primary school Chinese textbooks’scientific and systematic principles. Representative Chinese textbooks in SoutheastAsia were selected as research targets, I tried to establish a set of objectivequantitative analysis methods, and to lay the foundation for further in-depth study ofthe Southeast Asian Chinese textbook. Nine sets of textbooks, from Malaysia,Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and Vietnam, were selected as objects. Ina Southeast Asia primary school Chinese textbooks’ corpus database, I investigatedthe word frequence, word species, coverage, word length, idioms, difficulty level,grade increments, different levels text wording vary by grade changing.Accroding tothe characteristics of Chinese teaching, these six Southeast Asian countries weredivided into three levels which were invasitegated by comparing wording style.Ourstudy tentatively established a quantitative analysing method,which embracingcomputer linguistics as well as corpus linguistics,for the primary school Chinesetextbooks and provided data for futher research.
