Primary Education Program,a newly-established program in China’s higher education system at the end of the20th century, aims at training high-quality primary school teachers.Compared with the traditional normal school program also training primary school teachers, Primary Education Program has been improved and updated in both training mode and academic level.However,with the reform of training mode and upgrading of academic level for primary school teachers,development of art literacy and training of music skills for students of Primary Education Program have been gradually weakened.How to inherit and develop time-honored music education in normal schools and train teachers with high calibre for primary schools should be a focus of the eduactional circle and the construction of music coure for Primary Education Program especially deserves attention and exploration With the development of society and the reform of new courses of elementary education,more stringent standards and requirements are imposed on Primary Education Program and music literacy has become more important to each would-be primary school teacher.With so many thought-provoking questions concering the training of music skills for primary school teachers, the construction of music course should be emphasized and studied.Not only the construction of music course for Primary Education Program should be directed by guiding and forward-looking educational laws and regualtions but experts and scholars in this field should conduct indepth research into its relevant aspects as well.Firstly, the thesis begins with a review of the role the normal school music education played in the history of China’s elementary music education,sorts out the textbooks,the laws,regulations and policies on music education of secondary normal schools in different stages,follows the development of music education of normal schools and sums up the advantages and the inadequacy of its devepoment.Secondly, by analyzing the training programs of Primary Education of some teachers’colleges and universites and based on the results of the questionnaire survey among primary school teachers and students of Primary Education Program,the thesis finds out the status of today’s construction of music course of Primary Education Program.Finally, the paper puts forward a construction plan for music course of Primary Education Program in curriculum structure,curricular contents, contruction of textbooks and construction of teachers so as to make contributions to the construction of music course of Primary Education Program in China in the future and help to promote the training of music literacy and music teaching ability of students of Primary Education Program.
