In the textbook reforming of today, primary materials are many versions. In order toanalyze the advantages and disadvantages of the various versions, comparative Study ofteaching materials is increasing fast. This not only helps to analyze the characteristics ofdifferent versions of textbooks, but also provide a direction for teaching materialsadapted.Fraction occupies an important position in the Primary Mathematics. Learningfraction not only improves computing ability of students’, but also laid the foundation forthe percentage, ratio and slope in the secondary school. There is a blank in fractionmultiplication and division in domestic primary school textbooks. In this paper, thestudy is Comparative analysis on multiplication and division of fraction between coursecontent of PEP and Beijing Normal University Primary Mathematics textbooks.There are literature,comparative analysis and interviews. It is necessary to analyzethe presentation, course content and exercise characteristics in two editions of thetextbooks. Based on the two editions of the textbooks and their own characteristics,raising some recommendations are used for textbooks.The results show that, two editions of textbooks are regarding to practical problem inintroducing multiplication and division of fraction in the arrangement, as much aspossible to allow students to experience count management. When introducing themultiplication of fractions, there are fraction with integer multiplication and fraction withfraction multiplication. When the multiplier is a fraction, we can continue to use repeatedaddition and use times to understand the fractional and integer multiplication well.However, when the multiplier is a fraction,we made the multiplication of fractions aspart of the section.Multiplication and division of fractions in PEP are arranged in the sixth grade on the semester. It is half a semester later than Beijing Normal University textbook. And thehour arrangements are four more hours than Beijing Normal University textbook. ThePEP textbook emphasis on conceptual understanding and its content choreography isclarity. Practical exercise and pure math problem separate to explain. The subjects ofmulti-step accounted for38.9%in the exercises. The subjects are challenging andstrongly gradient. Practical exercise is less and may lead to lower the interest in learning.The PEP textbook focus on mathematical thinking ability, so the pure mathematicalexercise accounted for74.9%. It is a logical textbook. It concerned about themathematical ideas and methods as well as the student’s basic knowledge and skills andfocuses on the close link between the old and new knowledge to contribute to theunderstanding of the nature of the multiplication and division of fractionBeijing Normal University textbooks pay attention to the application of thealgorithms and simple algorithm. It combines mathematical and practical problemsarrangement with the transition from simple calculations to practical application.Multiplication and division mix operator of fraction are separately as one lesson.Explicitly gives the fraction with integers, fractions and fraction multiplication algorithm.Most of the calculation problems are simple single-step in the Beijing Normal Universitytextbooks, because it mainly pay attention to the consolidation of basic knowledge.Emphasis on the practical value of the fraction in real life, balance the proportion of puremathematics and practical issues. On the layout, there are many material-rich and vividpictures. It pay attention to the link of mathematics and the reality of life.Generally speaking, multiplication and division of fraction in two editions oftextbooks are satisfied with the national compilation of teaching materials requirement.Both of them have their own characteristics on arrangement of way, course content, andexercises. However, two editions of textbooks still have some problems in certain details.In the later writing, hoping to improve in the following areas: PEP materials should be tostrengthen the flexibility on the content processing and strengthen the links with real life.And the selection should seek to more abundant. Beijing Normal University textbooks should focus on the convergence of old and new knowledge and strengthen the logic.And then, two editions of the textbook should focus on students’ creative ability.
