Study On Sustainable Development Of Vocational Colleges In Guangdong

In the past two decades, the vocational colleges in Guangdong have achieved hugedevelopments either in terms of the number of vocational colleges or in terms of recruitmentscales, and have cultivated a large number of technical talents. It is safe to say that thevocational colleges in Guangdong have made tremendous contributions to the social andeconomical developments in Guangdong. However, with the constant upgrading andadjustments of the industry structures in Guangdong, the present talent-training modes anddeveloping modes of the vocational colleges in Guangzhou can no longer meet the needs ofeconomic developments in this area. With the vocational colleges in Guangdong in the phaseof rapid developments and expansion both in terms of college sizes and recruitment scales, itis of great practical significance to research how to realize inner developments mode whilemaintaining outer expansion and to ensure vocational education’s harmony among scale,structure, quality and profit.According to the current developments of vocational colleges in Guangdong, as therunning scales of colleges keep expanding, the quality and its characteristics have been moreand more concerned. Although in the past twenty years, vocational colleges have beencourageous to make reforms and innovations, there are still many problems to be solved. Theauthor elaborates the guiding principles and theoretical basis for the sustainable developmentsof vocational colleges. On the basis of analyzing the current developments of vocationalcolleges in Guangdong, through research on individual cases of vocational colleges inGuangdong, the author explores the background for the developments of vocational collegesin Guangdong, and the opportunities and challenges facing the sustainable developments ofvocational colleges in Guangdong. The author assesses the sustainability of vocationalcolleges in Guangdong from the perspectives of cultivating high quality labor force,promoting the sustainability of vocational colleges, and promoting the sustainabledevelopments of local economy, and finally puts forward the measures to be taken in order topromote the sustainable developments of vocational colleges in Guangdong.
