Learning ability and motivation are the subject of great concern to educators and teaching workers. The quality of the teaching not only depends on the teachers, also is students’ active learning in teaching interactive activities. The teacher, in addition to learning theory and teaching methods objectively, more need to know the students’own learning ability and motivation. Other conditions similar circumstances, the academic of student depends on the strength of the motivation to learn.For the current characteristics of high school geography curriculum and classroom situation, The research subjects are the students of the Sixth Middle School, Dingcheng District Changde City, Hunan, the subject using a number of methods, such as the questionnaire, compared to experiments, to investigation on the situation of geographic motivation, and try to stimulate students’geographical motivation, which are certain guiding significance for teachers teaching and learning of students.The first chapter describes the reasons for the proposed research topic of high school geography motivation,the research methods and significance. The second chapter overview of the high school geography motivation, introduce the relationship about motives and needs, incentives, elaborate the role and type of high school geography learning. The third chapter describes the theoretical basis of the motivation of high school geography, including the reinforcement theory, the achievement motivation theory, attribution theory, self-efficacy theory. Chapter Ⅳ focused research and analysis the motivation of high school geography through questionnaires of students in the Sixth Middle School. For the above research and analysis, The fifth chapter is the attempt to try an experiment on how to effectively train and stimulate students’ geographical motivation.The studies of motivation of high school geography education show that, the improvement of student learning Initiative not only the quality of education to be achieved by non-intelligence target, but it is also effective way to comprehensively promote quality educationand improve high school geography teaching quality.
