The topic of relations between the sexes has always existed in the human history. Cooperation and confrontation between the sexes will be a topic forever. Nowadays, in our transformation and pluralistic society, gender issues; including sexual desire, love, marriage, equality between men and women, it is both a social problem and a biological problem. The quantity of explorations from a biological perspective is little but is growing. As we examine how the biological affected the society and the history of the relationship of two genders, we will undoubtedly help us see and grasp of today’s hottest social issues. In history, there is an important but neglected book," Gender issues and biology". In this paper, we studied it from two perspectives:research methods and contents. We analyzed the value of this book, both in the early20th century and today’s Chinese society.When the book "Gender issues and biology" is published, Darwinism is in fashion. So, the main attention of this paper is on the relationship between the book and Darwinism. Our analysis is mainly from two perspectives:First, is from the point of view of the methodology and research paradigm. Second, it is starting from some specific problem to find the hypothesis of Darwinism in this book.In the first chapter, we analyzed the Darwinian paradigm behind this book. We argued that the impact of Darwin’s theory of evolution is in three main aspects:First, the research paradigm; Second, some specific research methods; Third, this book directly draws on Darwin’s some specific conclusions.While most of the space is concern the latest scientific biological discovery on the problem of sexual reproduction book, but of most concern is still the social problem of the relations between the sexes. Therefore, in the second and third chapters, we examined this book mainly from three specific social problems, such as eugenics, biological determinism, equality between men and women. We try to find how this book analyzed social problems with the perspective of Darwinism and how to coordinate the Darwinism with the Eastern moral traditions.In the last chapter, on the one hand, we introduced some other valuable arguments and argumentation in this book. On the other hand, we combined of the preceding analysis of many specific issues in this book, from the angle of the scientific and analyzed significance of this book form a cultural transmission perspective.
