Although due to various historical reasons,the pace of their political, economic, cultural development are different,as Chinese descendants, none of them will split the inheritance and development of Chinese civilization. Chinese characters as effective carriers of civilization heritage, they are not only important tools for people’s living and learning,but also played a vital role in the process of historical development. The target and methods of the literacy teaching in the three regions are different. Especially in the mainland China, people are taught to use simplify Chinese characters, but in Hong Kong and Taiwan people learn traditional Chinese characters. In spite of this, to mobilize children’s interest for literacy, improve children’s literacy levels and inherit Chinese characters culture are their common pursuits. This thesis is started with the introduction of literacy teaching objectives in the three regions and state the differences of their target-setting in detail. Then it introduces their literacy teaching methods and analyze the similarities and differences between each other. Thinking always starts from differences. This thesis has established a communicative platform for three regions’ literacy teaching to let them to know better about each other and learn from each other in order to improve their literacy teaching. In the thesis,the future development of the literacy teaching in the three regions of China has been discussed and has formed a indepentent view ahout that. It has not only discussed the future development direction and trend of the literacy teaching, but also explored the cooperation model of literacy teaching in the three regions. With the increasingly widespread communication in mainland China,Hong Kong and Taiwan, the cooperation and exchanges in the future literacy teaching will be more frequent and in-depth.
