Jilin Province University Competitive Sports Development Present Situation Research

With the deepening of China’s socialist market economic system, thecompetition in all fields is getting increasingly fierce. During the process ofself-development and international competition, China’s colleges and universities areinterested with the issue of competitive sports. At the same time, the reform ofcompetitive sports training system break the old pattern in which National SportsCommission is appointed exclusive to train excellent sports teams. High level ofcompetitive sports develops to universities and clubs, and the combined training ofthe country and society, along with multi-party confrontation and competition isforming a new pattern. In this paper, nine high-level university sports teams areselected as the object of the study, literature review, questionnaire, expert interview,mathematical statistics, comparative analysis and other methods are used as researchmethodology to investigate the current status of the development of competitivesports in Jilin Province, at the same time to put forward correspondingcountermeasures in order to provide reference and theoretical basis for the sustainabledevelopment of competitive sports in universities of Jilin Province.The results showthat:1. Jilin university sports performance in recent years have developed into anupward trend, and the gold medal project appeared. However, the layout is notreasonable, since it ignores the advantages of Jilin province.2. The athletes ofuniversity competitive sports of Jilin Province are mainly high school students.Though there exist some excellent athletes, the admission of some items is notattractive enough for these outstanding athletes.Athletes in training can be a positivelearner in the university courses, but a poor foundation and the training have negativeinfluence on their motivation to learn. And most athletes are willing to participate inthe training, but the boring of the training, injuries and learning pressure are majordifficulties that they encountered in the training.There is a more serious learning and training contradiction.3. The coach age, education status, title structure of sportsteams of universities of Jilin Province is relatively reasonable, and has the trend ofhighly educated coaches. The coaches have some coaching experience and betterresearch ability, but lacking of opportunities for further studies. Coaches are mainlypart-time coaches, and have the special technical level to meet the training needs; theyhave serious work attitude, and receive support and recognition of the athletes.4. Theoperating fee of most colleges and universities competitive sports teams come fromthe school administration funding. Due to the simple source and lack of funds, thechance to take part in competitions is less which has impact on the technical andtactical improvement of Jilin university competitive sports teams. Sports venues andtraining settings can basically meet the needs of the sports team training andcompetition. Appropriate countermeasures aiming at the proposed problems are to bepointed out:1. strengthen the reasonability of the layout of the project;2. broaden theadmission policies;3. Establish coach training;4. Improve comprehensivemanagement mechanism;5. Increase capital investment.
