To evaluated the effectiveness of a school-based prevention and intervention program on suicide behaviors and related factors for adolescents in junior and senior schools.A total of2886students from two junior schools (grade7and8) and two senior schools (grade10and11) in Shanghai Pudong district were recruited in our study,210students were identified as being at risk for suicide by screening. A universal suicide intervention was conducted in the universal study group; an indicated suicide intervention was conducted in the indicated study group.210high suicide risk students in indicated study group and indicated control group completed self-administered questionnaire before,6months and18months after the indicated intervention.No significant difference was found in suicide behaviors and related factors in the pre-intervention test between the study group and indicated group except the score of self-expression.18months after the end of indicated intervention, indicated study group’s percentage of persisting suicide thought, percentage of suicide plan, BSI-CV score in the recent week and in the worst, BDI score, BHS total score and its factors score of future feeling, loss of motivation and negative expectation in the future were significantly lower than the indicated control group; indicated study group’s SSRS score and factor scores of subjective support, objective support and use of support in SCSQ were significantly higher than the indicated control group.Conclusions of this study are as follows:1)The indicated suicide intervention for high suicide risk students can decrease suicide behaviors, depression mood and hopelessness.2) The indicated suicide intervention for high suicide risk students can significantly improve the at-risk students subjective support, objective support has support using the degree of social support mediating factors.3) Intervention can improve the at-risk students coping styles, can significantly improve the students at risk of positive coping style and ability.
