| The present high school English new teaching material is close to modern life in content and it covers a wide range of topics from science and technology, music to literature, art, media, which can stimulate the students’interest to learn. On the other hand, the new teaching material also has an obvious characteristic--a large vocabulary, with each unit approximately560words and phrases. Therefore the memory of vocabulary has become an arduous job for the students. Learning those words by heart has become a big headache for the students. Facing the large vocabulary, they feel helpless. Therefore, how to stimulate students’enthusiasm and how to help the students improve their efficiency has become an important topic which our English teachers are faced with. Looking at the current overall situation, we may find that the vocabulary teaching effect is not so satisfactory and optimistic. The traditional way of teaching vocabulary, that is, reading after the teacher, recitation and then dictation, can’t meet the demand of new curriculum. Obviously, the only way out to solve the problem lies in the change of the way of vocabulary teaching. At present, elementary education reform in English teaching focuses on the students’ participation in classroom activities, students’ active exploration, and the cultivation of students’ability to collect and process information, obtain knowledge as well as the ability to analyze and solve problems and the skills for communication and cooperation. New educational theory advocates student-centered way of teaching and that teachers should lead students to actively participate in learning English. One of the big task that we are now faced with is how to arouse the students’ enthusiasm of active learning, turn the passive learning into active learning and make the students become an independent learner, thus laying a solid foundation for their future language learning.Under this circumstance, I do some research and practice into students’automatic learning of vocabulary with an environment of information technology hoping to stimulate and promote vocabulary learning, mobilize students’ initiative and creativity, thereby enabling students to acquire effective vocabulary learning strategy to actively expand their vocabulary. |
