As one of basic elements of language,vocabulary is vital to English learning.But according to research,in China,vocabulary learning has become one of main difficulties in English learning of senior high school students,and how to teach English vocabulary well has puzzled English teachers for a long time.Because it is of great importance to English learning,vocabulary teaching has been done research on by the researchers both at home and abroad for a long time..In 2003,the Ministry of Education issued New English Curriculum Standards of Senior High School(hereafter shortened as New Standards),which sets higher requirements for vocabulary teaching,that is to say,it lays more stress on a larger vocabulary of students and their ability to use it.As a result,since the New Standards came into effect,every middle school has positively explored how to improve vocabulary teaching.The "learning autonomy teaching model" is the model in which based on the guided learning plan,students are the subject to fulfill teaching tasks through their joint effort under the teachers' guidance and assistance in order to achieve learning goals.It was in the 19th century that was referred by the No.1 Jinhua middle school.This model is based on the cooperation of teachers and students and uses the guided learning plan to develop students' self-learning ability.The author's school—the Affiliated high school of Henan normal university,so as to adapt to the development requirements of the teaching reform,combining with our present school education and teaching situations,proposed and formulated the "learning autonomy" teaching reform plan in 2013.Based on the teaching reform plan,our school has established the "learning autonomy" teaching experimental departments respectively in junior and senior high schools.Each grade has set six classes to conduct "learning autonomy teaching model".Meanwhile,the rest of classes which don't belong to the experimental departments conduct traditional teaching model.With the aim of having a better understanding of whether this model can really improve English vocabulary teaching and learning in class,the author has done some research on the related theories of "learning autonomy teaching model",relying on the education and teaching reform of her school,tries to study to conduct a complete system of "learning autonomy" teaching model of new high school English vocabulary teaching and summarizes the contents of teaching design and the principles of making learning plans,which will be applied to classroom practice,through the experiment research to validate their effect.The author's study shows that performance of the "learning autonomy" teaching model makes students become the main body of the classroom,changes the way of passive learning in traditional classes into autonomous learning,meantime makes them discover problems and solve problems by themselves,therefore arousing students'learning passion and enthusiasm,helping students get better access to new knowledge,strengthening the innovative thinking and practical ability,and truly improving the classroom teaching effectiveness and efficiency.
