Free Normal College Student Police was proposed in2007by Ministry of Education,Ministry of Personnel, and Ministry of Finance. The first pilot universities were the six onesdirectly attached to Ministry of Education. They recruited students nationwide since that yearby emphasizing the following key point: teacher education system should be reformed so as toattract excellent students’; after graduation they should work as teachers or supply teachers inthe remote countryside areas. This policy has played an important role in realizing fair ofeducation and facilitating the harmonious development of society.Many scholars have paid great attention on the issues of free normal university studentstraining such as training plan, course design and form of teaching practice and there has beenno fixed conclusion right now. The present paper is a survey on the teaching practice ofGrades2007and2008free normal university students majoring in physical education bycombining the methods of literature, interview, questionnaires, SWOT analysis, mathematicaland statistical methods, as well as the analysis of the internal and external environments oftheir teaching practice. Then the opportunities and challenges, advantages and disadvantagesof PE free normal majors teaching practice will be summarized. The major findings are asfollows:the policy of free normal university students was proposed based on the view ofeducational equity and improving the quality of new comers of normal universities.First,, by comparison, it is found that the forms of teaching practice has been changing:from the center scattering modes in the past to the modes of replacing the original teachersSecond, by comparison, it has been concluded that the reasonable lessons for perprobation PE teacher are8to12.Third, according to the survey, it has been found that the PE students hope that each can beguided by two teachers from the probation schools. In the past, there was only one teacher incharge of the guidance of on school, which seems to be change. Thus, more specializedteachers are needed to be trainedFourth, the assessment has been changed on the way from final assessment to acomprehensive one.Fifth, by doing the SWOT analysis, we have found that the advantage factors of PE freenormal university majors are:(1) the strong support of the national government;(2) strongstudent resources. The disadvantage factors are:(1) relatively poor ability of the teachers inthe probation bases (2) few teachers allocated by the normal universities The opportunityfactors:(1)free normal university students policy has been better propagandized and willspread in other normal universities (2)the incomes of teachers have been improved. Thethreat factors are (1) free normal university students policy is against the law;(2) the policymay have a bad effect on the other students’ job huntings.According to the shortages existed in the research, put forward the following suggestions: One, according to the reform of teaching practice, be bold to free pedagogical lives theemployment reform, in the future of free normal college students can be enrolled and thevarious provinces and cities in the Bureau of education and school joint training.Two, should increase of free normal education internship hours.Three, improve the teacher and practice base led to the guidance of teachers ability,increase the student assigned guidance teachers.Four, with the free normal students’ successful operation, should seek for a variety of freenormal students achievement evaluation model, comprehensive evaluation of free normalstudents.Five, in the teaching practice we should make full use of the advantage of free normaleducation practice; improve education practice in inferior position; to seize opportunity ineducation practice; preventive education practice in threat.
