As the process of urbanization and industrialization in China became faster,more and more migrant workers rushed to the city for job.The flow of labour force changed the life condition of their life and accelerated the economy at the same time.But in the limitation of the urban-rural dual structure and economy condition,migrant workers can’t move to the city with their whole family,this make lots of old people who were living alone in the countryside with their grandchildren. With their children out to work in the city which broke the traditional family ties of senior member care and safeguard function of land,added to the immature social insurance system,these aged people can not fulfil their need of caring.This caused an unignorable social problem.This essay take the Left-behind elderly who living in Shang Cheng county,Henan province as an example,use the Maslow’s hierarchy needs theory and nature research technique to analyse the needs of these Left-behind elderly.we found that besides the basic level of need,the Rural Left-behind elderly also have psychological needs and self-actualization needs. At the same time,the security resources they can get is very limited, especially the higher level need to be well protected. With the analysis of their needs and the existing pension resources,we hope to perfecting the Left-behind elderly’s social security system to fill their hierarchy needs.
