The secondary vocational education is an important part of the national education system, the secondary vocational school students has become an important member of the builders of China’s socialist cause, the ideology and character of the secondary vocational school students are not only related to their individual growth, the happiness of their family, but also closely related to socialism construction enterprise in China. Compared with their peers, they have more disadvantages. In the new reforming period of China’s socialist market economy, there have been many new situations and new problems to the secondary vocational school students in their ideology and character.In this paper, according to the students’actual quality of the ideology and character in Changde Industrial School, exploring the problem and analyzing the reasons of their ideology and character, Finally, some suggestions about countermeasures are proposed. According to the questionnaires and interviews, the secondary vocational school students have the following mainly problems in the ideology and character: indifference to the political enthusiasm, weakness in the ideals and beliefs, fuzziness in the learning goals, weakness in the willpower, lack of the consciousness in law and discipline, emotional behavior in the words and deeds, disregard in the honesty and trustworthiness. The reasons for these problems, including the following four aspects:the impact of the present social development, such as the influence of the current social development, the influence of the multiple values in the mass media and the realistic effects of social employment. The impact of the current ideology and character education of the vocational schools, such as the influence of the education idea, the influence of the education way and the influence of the recessive course. The impact of the vocational students’families, such as the influence of the structure of the family members, the influence of the family status in social and economic and the influence of family culture quality.The impact of the secondary vocational students’status, such as the influence of the adolescent psychological characteristics, the influence of ideology and character development, the subculture effect of the youth peer group.Secondary vocational school students’ideology and character problems can be resolved through the following ways. First, create a good social environment for vocational students grow. Second, change the current education concept and mode of the ideology and character in the secondary vocational school, improve the education level of the families and enhance students’own quality.
