Social morality is an important part of moral system; it can standardize and restrainthe behavior of people in public. Thus, it helps maintain harmonious interpersonalrelationships and promote the social order harmonious balance. The college students arethe important participators of social morality. Their quality of social morality not onlyrefers to achieve all-round development, but also affect the building of socialist spiritualcivilization in our country and the construct of harmonious social. As the mainstream ofthe Chinese traditional culture, Confucian ethical ideas have great influence on nationalbehavior and thought. Social morality education of college students should pay attentionto our national conditions, because cultivating any kind of new ideas should not breakoff national historical heritage. Therefore, exploring more effective education strategyfrom Confucian ethical ideas perspective to improve college students’ social moralityhas important theoretical and practical significance. The paper includes four parts:The first part states the significance of social morality education of collegestudents from the angle of theory. First, the paper clarifies the concept of social morality,and analyzes its characteristic. Second, the article explains the relationship of collegestudents’ social morality and social morality. Meanwhile, the paper emphasizes on theimportance of strengthening social morality education of college students.The second part is an empirical study on the present situation of social moralityeducation of college students. The survey includes three main parts. First, analyses thesituation of college student’ social morality. Through the investigation, we know thatmost of college students do well in social morality, but some students violate it in thefollowing respects: Some students are short of moral ideal and the sense ofresponsibility; Some students Lack deeply understanding of the concept of the socialmorality; Some students have the knowledge and practice division phenomenon; Somestudents are short of self-restrict. Second, surveyed the present situation of socialmorality education of college students. It indicates several filters which limit thedevelopment of the social morality education for college students by the investigation asfollows: there is still a wrong concept of cognition which educator value intelligenceand neglect morality; The educational targets is abstraction and the educational contentis idealistic; Educator value moral cognition and underestimate moral experiencing;Students ignoring the students’ self-educating. Third, through the analysis, we know that educator on the importance of Confucian ethical ideas is not enough.The third part proofs the value of Confucian ethical ideas in the social moralityeducation. First, the paper defines the Confucian ethical ideas. Confucian ethical ideashave its deficiency, but its core idea of human society in many aspects is transcendent, itstill has a positive value in modern society. Second, the paper proves Confucian ethicalideas plays a positive role in moral education from two main aspects. Confucian ethicalideas are one of the spiritual resources to improve the contents of social moralityeducation. Such as" benevolence means to love others","being honest and believable","harmony between human being and nature" and so on. In the methods of education.,Confucian ethical ideas is worth learning, such as” teaching students in accordance withtheir aptitude","revived and reclaimed"," self-supervision " and etc.The last part proposes appropriate strategies of social morality education forcollege students from Confucian ethical ideas perspective. First, to advance the contentsof social morality education, the good component of Confucian ethical ideas should betaken in. Second, the Confucians advocated the principal parts should be used forself-education of college students. Third, Confucians’ morals education methods arereference for the college students’ social moral education. Finally, relevant securitysystem should be established to ensure the social morality education.
