The study took Social Work Intervention of parents’"empty nest syndrome" who have only one child as the case, helping Clients to solve problems and discuss the solution to the one-child parents’"empty nest syndrome". On the basis of literature review, theory research and practice, For the convenience of research and intervention, we took their only child’s college bound as a triggering event, and analyzed the stage characteristic of the pre-event and the post-event to explore method of intervention in stages to achieve the purpose of prevention and treatment of "empty nest syndrome". Main conclusions are:only child’s mothers are more likely to develop "empty nest syndrome"; The symptoms of "empty nest syndrome" is complex, mainly manifested in cognition, emotion and behavior; the characteristics, tasks and goals of two stages are different; In view of the complexity of the empty nest syndrome symptoms and the different stage characteristics, different strategies should be taken in different stages; Before their children’s college bound, the main contradiction is the conflict between parents and their children, and the conflict is the main reason of the different cognition on the same events, so we should take cognitive behavioral therapy under the perspective of social work in the family; After children’s college bound, our core task is the adjustment and adaptation to new family life, therefore, we should use the technique of social support network to carry on the intervention; Prior intervention in the first stage can contribute to the intervention in the next stage.
