The sports industry is the most dynamic and potential sunrise industry, sportingevents is the core of the sports industry, successful sporting events have a stronginfluence, not only on meeting the psychological needs of people as well as raisinghealthy sports awareness of citizens, but also on pulling the peripheral industries,bringing development opportunities for the city on various sectors. As a model ofsuccessful sports event, brand sports event has more remarkable qualities. It has astrong sense of appreciation, a distinctive identification, long-term stability andendless potential value. Building brand sports events will profit the city hardwarefacilities, human environment, the circumstances, and the capacity of management toupgrade the whole industry so as to promote urban development. Whether it hassufficient quantity and quality of brand sports events plays a pivotal role in improvingcompetitiveness and seeking transformation for the city.The purpose of this paper is to study through the present operating condition ofbrand sports events in Beijing from the internal as well as external environment,comparing the race carried out in foreign well-known cities, summarizing valuableexperience to explore problems that exist in the Beijing sports events, and providing areference for the development of sports events to the city.This paper uses the study methods of document research, logical analysis,comparative analysis, observation research, the main contents and results are asfollows:1. The sport events of foreign well-known sports cities have features such asplanning reasonably, having influence and appeal, including rich cultural heritage andloyal audience, mature management and operation, etc. Besides, closely integratedwith tourism industry is what worth we should learn specially.2. Introduce and cultivate brand sport event actively have effects on economic,culture and tourism in Beijing, it should pay attention to related resources, channel forraising funds, development and utilization of capacity of management and operationof sport event company.3. Sports events of Beijing exist problems such as influence and corecompetitiveness are relatively weak, operating is ruled by government departments,monopoly of the media industry, sport event companies are lack of level, thedevelopment phase of the project and the process of building sport event brand do not match each other, etc.4. The selection of Beijing sports events are constrained by external and internalfactors. The former ones include policies, economic conditions, cultural atmosphere,and natural environment. Meanwhile, the latter involve strategic planning, operationalmechanism, infrastructure, and security system. Combined with both of the factors,while adapting to the internal and external environment, is a necessary condition ofbuilding brand sports event.5. Beijing should introduce the top brand sport events according to the demandof Beijing sports career planning and the target to spur the development of otherindustries; cultivating brand sport events should integrate the cultural identities, thecultural landscapes, the cultural connotation of Beijing, building fixed brand sportevents that have high-level, strong identification and own characteristics.
