With the development of wireless communication technology, mobile learning as abranch of e-learning was concerned by more and more people. Mobile learning as a new formof learning in the field of education has immeasurable potential. And now it becomes a newhot spot of educational technology and the related fields. In the process of mobile learning,learner first produce the needs of the quest for knowledge, then explore issues by discussingand exchanging with the other learners or teachers in time in order to improve the efficiencyof learning, and reach the purpose of self-knowledge construction and collaborativeknowledge construction.With the growing popularity of smart phones, the hardware performance is becomingmore perfect,the unique user experience has begun to be recognized by the growing numberof users. Smart phone is not only used to make and receive calls, send and receive messages,it combines the functionality of the PDA that can manage a personal information, it also canbe used as camcorders, navigation, browse the Internet, send and receive e-mail and otherfunctions. It has the characteristics such as convenience, mobility, timeliness and interactive.Compared with ordinary feature phones, the biggest feature of smart phones is the openness.It can be used without the space constraints, at any time, anywhere through a wirelessnetwork and open operate system, you can share a large number of applications. It can clearlybe seen that mobile learning based on the smart phone is the ideal way to study and it willbecome a popular way to learn in the future for supplementary education. In order to getlearners to achieve better learning outcomes, we must design a good curriculum, so goodteaching design is essential. With the increasing perfection of network education, the fourthgeneration of distance education-mobile learning styles have begun to promote. We can notdirectly move the online education courses to smart phone it will not do work. We must takefull account of the phone’s screen, resolution, memory size, media format support, batteryduration and a series of targeted instructional design characteristics.The first chapter introduces the status of domestic and foreign countries, describes thebackground, purpose and significance of this study. The second chapter is the relateddefinition and theoretical to support this study. The third chapter summarizes thecharacteristics and influencing factors of mobile learning. The fourth chapter analyzes the mobile learning instructional design features and the followed principles. The fifth chapterbuilds a mobile learning instructional design model based on smart phone by referencing theexisting model and mobile learning characteristics. Analysis the advantages and shortcomingsof the case named hands of English to test this model. The sixth chapter is the summary part,put forward the inadequacies of this research and the follow-up study.
