The future orientation is one of the important development task of adolescents.Ithas important impact on adolescents to adapt to changes in social roles and on theirplanning and evaluation. By the theory of ecological system model and developmentsituation theory, development background has been paid more and more attention onadolescents’ future orientation.Many studies abroad noted Sociol Economic Status ofFamily as one of the important factors and it plays an important role in thedevelopment of children and adolescents (Paulter&Lewko,1987, Nurmi,1991).Since the reforming and opening in China, economy has maintained rapid growth.Butthe gap of residents’ income distribution is bigger and bigger.This study will examinethe influence of Social Economic Status of Family on the future orientation ofadolescents with the background of Chinese culture.In addition,existing studies haveshown that Social Economy Status of Family was not decided to the development ofadolescents,some individuals or the environment protect factor can have someinfluence on it(Huston&Bentley,2010; Matthews&Gallo,2011).This study chosebig five personality traits as an protective factor of individual,explorling themoderating effect of personality between the Social Economy Status of Family andadolescents’ future orientation.Social Economy Status of Family Questionnaire,Big Five PersonalityQuestionnaire and Future Orientation Questionnaire revised version in Chinese wereadministered to1915Chinese adolescents,in order to investigating the relationshipbetween Social Economic Status of Family and the future orientation of adoloscentand the moderating effect of the big five personality.All of the measures showed goodreliability.The main conclusions of this study are as follows: (1)Social Economy Status of Family in adolescents can positively predict theexploration, commitment, positive expectations and attitudes in future orientationregarding education field.(2)Social Economy Status of Family in adolescents can positively predict theexploration,commitment, positive expectations and attitudes in future orientationregarding occupational field.(3)Neuroticism moderated the relation between Social Economy Status ofFamily and adolescents’ future exploring and attitudes regarding education: SocialEconomy Status of Family had a greater impact on low emotionaladolescents;.extraversion moderated the relation between Social Economy Status ofFamily and adolescents’ future positive expectations regarding education: SocialEconomy Status of Family had a greater impact on low exocentric adolescents.(4)Neuroticism moderated the relation between Social Economy Status ofFamily and adolescents’ future exploring and attitudes regarding occupation: SocialEconomy Status of Family had a greater impact on low emotional adolescents.
