| Learning engagement refers to a persistent and positive emotional,cognitive,and behavioral engagement of students in the learning process.It is an important indicator for evaluating the learning effectiveness of high school students and also an important factor in improving the quality of education.Driven by the trend of positive psychology,learning engagement has attracted the attention of scholars from all walks of life in recent years.Previous studies have shown that positive psychology variables such as proactive personality,future orientation,and core self-evaluation all have an impact on students’ learning engagement,but the path between these factors is still unclear.From the perspective of positive psychology,this study examines the factors that affect the learning engagement of high school students in the context of the new college entrance examination.Using cluster sampling,690 high school students in grade one and grade two in two middle schools in Hebei Province were surveyed to explore the relationship between proactive personality and learning engagement,as well as the role of future orientation and core self-evaluation in the relationship between the two and the differences in demography variables The Proactive Personality Questionnaire,Youth Future Orientation Questionnaire,and Core Self Evaluation Questionnaire were used as measurement tools,and the research conclusions are as follows:(1)High school students’ learning engagement,active personality,future orientation and core self-evaluation are all in the middle level as a whole,and there are significant differences in some demography variables such as gender,grade,and student origin.(2)There is a significant positive correlation between high school students’ proactive personality,future orientation,core self-evaluation,learning engagement,and various dimensions.(3)High school students’ proactive personality,future orientation,and core self-evaluation have a significant positive predictive effect on their learning engagement.(4)The future orientation of high school students plays a partial mediating role between proactive personality and learning engagement.(5)High school students’ core self-evaluation moderates the impact of future orientation on learning engagement in the mediating model in which proactive personality influences learning engagement through future orientation. |
