Recently,there are a lot of research on the design for learning online,but their effects is notgood for the learners can easily have “cognitive overload”. The root cause that the learners have“cognitive overload” is that researches on the design for learning online do not consider or takeless considering of the learners’ cognitive load factor.Cognitive Load Theory analyses the reasons of learners’ cognitive load,and providesinstruction for learning online. It has gradually become a hot topic that design for learning onlinebased on the Cognitive Load Theory to support and promote learning. So It has important valueon theory and reality to research the design for learning online based on the Cognitive LoadTheory.This paper uses developmental methodology, Design methodology, Systems approach,Literature methodology,and has done some research work in the following seven aspects.(1) This paper makes an overview of online learning and Cognitive Load Theory. Andunderstands the definition,type,elements,design of learning online,and also analyses the basicviewpoints of Cognitive Load Theory.(2) This paper analyses the necessity and feasibility of the Cognitive load theory’s guidanceon design for earning online.(3) Based on analysing the needs of general learning and in light of cognition load theory,This paper analyses the Elements of design for the theme of learning online based on CognitiveLoad Theory.(4) This paper constructes the design model for learning online based on Cognitive LoadTheory.(5) Based on analysing the elements of learning and in light of cognition load theory, Thispaper analyses the design Elements of learning online based on Cognitive Load Theory.(6) This paper constructes the design model for process of learning online based onCognitive Load Theory.(7) This paper develope an instance and trial, which is under the guidance of Onlinelearning activities design based on cognitive load theory. After a series of research, paper has achieved certain results.(1)This paper analyses the cognitive load theory to guide the necessity and specificguidance strategy of online learning activities design and put forward the overall train of thought.(2)This paper built a Online learning activities theme design model, which is based oncognitive load theory.(3)This paper built a Online learning activities process design model, which is based oncognitive load theory.(4)This paper develope an instance and trial, which is under the guidance of Onlinelearning activities design based on cognitive load theory.Paper has the following innovative:(1)Constructed the instructional design model. This paper constructes the design modelfor theme and process of learning online based on Cognitive Load Theory.(2)This paper puts forward the initial cognitive load and procedural cognitive loadmeasurement method.
