| Under the background of the world’s economy globalization and informatization, the penetrations of the multi-cultures and the conflicts and communications of the concepts of the values are making us confront with perplexities and problems in constructing China’s basic education curriculum culture, educators and the educated have different feelings and experiences under multicultural influences, big differences are showing up in their cultural concepts, teaching materials are important factors in adjusting the differences, the knowledge of the materials offered could point out a heading direction for students and make them generate their own judgment and creativity under the guidance of the teachers. Chinese textbooks carries great responsibilities in a perspective of multi-culture, not only because the splendid Chinese culture’s inheritance mission but also the demanding of the multi-cultures coexistence reality brought by the social transformation, So the selected texts of the textbooks should show understanding and respect to different cultures. China is a multiethnic country, there is also multi-ethnic coexistence, the compilation of teaching materials should expose the attitude of mutual tolerance and mutual absorption, the contents of various ethnic groups cultures are included in the current PEP primary language textbooks, which are the best elaborations of China’s multi-ethnic conditions. According to the new curriculum requirements, language teaching materials should actively develop the texts which could embody the spirit of the times and be rich in modern ideology, the cultural elements of the selected texts should be able to embody the excellent cultures of Chinese culture and other ethnic groups, reflect the cultural diversity of the world. Well, in what way the cultures of the various ethnic groups in the present primary school language teaching materials should be presented? What cultural value orientation it should indicate? In this paper the current PEP primary school language teaching materials will be showed as one example, then focus will be made on elaboration for ethnic cultures in the textbooks, the thesis contains five parts in total:The1st part, Introduction. Start from the study for the multicultural education development trends in the world and in China’s multi-cultural research status, present the necessity and values for ethnic culture research on the basis of the definition concept clarifying, and briefly describe the ideas and methods of the study.The2nd part, A content analysis for ethnic cultures in primary language textbooks. Analysis starts from a six dimension angle for ethnic cultures (China’s minority ethnic groups and foreign ethnic groups) contents in textbooks, based on the sample of existing PEP primary school language teaching materials, respectively they are:the theme of the text, author, the quality of the main character, illustrations, languages and cultures and customs, in the purpose of presenting an overall view for ethnic culture’s distribution in PEP primary school language teaching materials to its readers in the first step.The3rd part, The characteristics and reality trend of ethnic group cultures in primary school language teaching materials. Explore the features and value orientations different with previous teaching materials in ethnic culture’s presentations, based on the analysis for the ethnic cultures presented in the textbook.The4th part, The problems and causes of reflections of ethnic cultures in primary school language teaching materials. Discussing the problems and causes for reflecting ethnic cultures in the teaching materials based on the analysis for ethnic cultures presented in the textbooks.The5th part, Proposals given for ethnic cultures in primary school language teaching materials. For a better reflection of ethnic cultures in the teaching materials, suggestions proposed from the inspiration from above expounding for the improvements of compilation and use of the teaching materials. |
