The Research Of The History Of American Homeschool Movement

The homeschool movement happened in the end of1960s is a double movement on education and society of United States, many foreign scholars had been doing researchs on it since1980s due to its impact to the elementary education of American. However, homeschool movement is still a new concept to chinese scholars. Although there are few studies focused on homeschool movement and homeschool in recent years, still there is no research had been done from the perspective of history. This study are going to be the first one. It summarized the experience of homeschool movement by analying the process of its more than50years development and discussed the possibility of applying this education mode in China. I hope this study could be a valuable document to other social scientists.The text includes five parts and a preface.The preface includes the purpose, content, methods, significance, difficulties and innovations of the study.The first part traces the history of homeschool.The second part combs the important events and significant people in the origin and legalization period of homeschool movement and analyzes the reasons of why it happened.The third part summarizes the developing and dividing period of homeschool movement.The fourth part depicts the period of rapid development and professionalization of homeschool movment.The fifth part discussed the possibility of applying this education mode in China and the enlightenment to chinese education reform.
