The reform of teacher education is an important part of the education reform in America, which has been in constant exploration. American teacher education originally did not contact with the university, but, with the development of politics, economy, science and technology, it’s gradually become a part of a comprehensive university. The university with its unique advantage played an increasingly important role in teacher education. To a certain extent, its improve teacher’s academic and social status. To the1960s and1970s, school of education has played an important role in American teacher education. In the1980s, in order to solve the problem in teacher education, as the representative of the new forms of reform, the American Faculty of Education Professional Development Schools achieved fruitful results. The development of the School of Education in the United States has had a profound impact on the world of teacher education. it also has the significance of enlightenment and reference for our country which is now ongoing.This article is divided into four parts. This text is to study the history process of school of education in America, including the embryonic period, the formation period, the mature period, and the reform period. It focuses on the background, characteristics, and achievement in every period. Finally, this paper summarizes and discusses the experience and lessons of this development mode for the reform of teacher education in our country.
