American teachers education distinguished with its good education system, rich teaching resources, scientific evaluation system and sufficient financial assistance, has become an excellent example of the world’s teacher education. Countries are learning from America in order to improve their own quality of teacher education. Through an in-depth study of American teachers training mode, this thesis attempts to provide some implications and thinking for the improvement of the teacher education training level in China.This thesis makes comprehensive collection and analysis of various resources of American teachers training, mainly drawing on literature research, comparative method and case study. In addition, it also digs into this literature to explore the particular advantages of American teachers training.A case study of teacher education program is conducted respectively at the Graduate School of Education in University of Pennsylvania. By means of analyzing the original English resources, the researcher accurately learns about the details of American teacher education system and then summarizes the advantages and innovation of teacher education in America. Finally some reasonable suggestions are given for reference in the reform of Chinese teacher education system.The whole thesis mainly contains of five chapters. Chapter 1 is the introduction part. The second chapter introduces some issues of American teachers training, including relevant theoretical basis and policy orientation. The further study of the specific mode in America is done in Chapter 3, in terms of the case study of Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania. The next chapter analysis the characteristics and advantages of teacher education program in the University of Pennsylvania The last one draws a conclusion to the evaluation and thinking of teachers training mode in America, as well as some constructive suggestions for the reform of current Chinese teacher education.
