| First-rate universities entail first rate teaching and management staff, and theprofessionalization of the latter is an inevitable trend in China’s high educationdevelopment. Researches upon the professionalization of the IHL (institutions of higherlearning) management staff are of significance in promoting China’s high education andthe management of it.As the administration, the IHL management staff is usually well-learned andtheoretically disciplined, though there may be a huge discrepancy between individuals. Ittakes “professionalism†and lifetime practice for an IHL management staffer to obtainprofessional knowledge and skills about IHL management, thus realizing the staffer’sprofessional development in an all-round way. In an era of knowledge-based economywhere what the IHL needs is diversified creative thinking, the IHL management should notconsider people simply as machines or instruments, but rather as individuals withcharacteristics and dignity, and therefore, following the “putting people first†philosophy,prioritize the development of people’s creativity over all others in their work to maximizetheir motivation, initiatives and creativity, hence “all-round free development†of themanagement staff. Through literature studies, comparative studies and exemplifications,the present thesis attempts to analyze the professionalization of the IHL management stafffollowing the philosophy of “all-round free development of humanityâ€.In addition to China’s special system, mechanism, ideology, and special managementsubjects, the insufficient professionalization of the IHL management staff in China can beascribed to the scant emphasis, the incomplete management system, the lack of acreativity-nurturing climate and policies, and the want of autonomy in educationmanagement, and especially to the absence of the idea of “professional managementâ€amongst the management staffers. The IHL management in western countries is highly professionalized and has rich experience for the IHL management in China to draw upon.The idea of proceeding from facts and of establishing the management philosophy ofall-round free development of humanity resonates with the features of theprofessionalization of the IHL management. Firstly, such professionalization should bebased on all-round free development of humanity. Secondly, the IHL management shouldbe promoted through the career development management system involving planning totraining. Thirdly, a series of supporting mechanisms such as post categorization, staffpromotion, staff assessment, and achievement-payment mechanism should be adopted toguarantee the all-round free development of the IHL management staff. |
