A Survey Of Community Work’s Application To Supporting The Disabled’s Families

As the most basic form of the social support for the disabled, family support can help people with disabilities achieve rehabilitation and development by the emotional interaction among family members and input of external resources. The strength of the family support has a direct impact on the disabled people’s quality of life, therefore, the establishment of a stable and lasting family support has great significance for Social work practice for people with disabilities.Community plays an important role in the disabled and their family support.As one of the basic methods of professional social work, community work can help solve and prevent the disabled’s issues by specific community action. Besides, it can mobilize and integrate community resources as well as develop and use social forces to support the disabled and their families in community, rehabilitating them and improve their development, then integrate with the social environment. In the view of the theory of social support networks and family support system, combined with the author’s practice in the community’s "mutual care" development projects of persons with disabilities, this article makes a depth analysis of the use of community work in support of families of the disabled mainly from the basic methods,the main contents and effect aspects of the community work in support of families of persons with disabilities,and discussed the practical problems in it’s local development.The study found that the community work as a specific social work intervention path and an effective means of resources integration can provide the necessary emotional,physical, policy. service support for the families of disabled people through positive community action,as well as expand and strengthen the social support network of the disabled’s families,it is beneficial to achieve an overall improvement in standards of welfare of the disabled and their families. At the same time, with the gradual perfection of china’s disabled community service and work.the author thinks that the "human, finance, material "and the construction of community work system should be taken into consideration, then gradually establish a community work mechanism,which family as service objects and community as carrier and perfect the community service-oriented social support mechanism for the disabled, it will help crack the disabled community’s development challenges and promote the development of china community services career for the disabled.
