"Outreach Resources-Endogenous Awareness":A Study On Social Work Intervention In Stress Relief For Family Caregivers Of The Disabled Elderly

With the deepening of the aging of Chinese population,the disabled elderly base is increasing,and the consequent disabled elderly care problem has become a realistic problem faced by many families.Under the influence of the existing long-term care system is not perfect and the continuous influence of Chinese traditional cultural concepts,family care is still the main way of care for the elderly,and family members have become the strong force to take care of the disabled elderly.Due to the long-term and heavy caring work,they cannot get enough recognition and sense of achievement,and caregivers are often under the pressure of physical,psychological,social and other aspects of care,so it is urgent to relieve the pressure.However,existing studies have not paid extensive attention to the stress of disabled elderly family caregivers.This study takes the stress relief of disabled elderly family caregivers as the research entry point.From the perspective of social support theory,this study takes 10 disabled elderly family caregivers who the author served when participating in the stress relief program of family caregivers in S Community of Shanghai as the investigation objects,collects data through semi-structured interview,and combines relevant literature and research.To the disabled elderly family caregivers in the physical,psychological,economic,social and other aspects of the pressure situation to form a relatively overall understanding.Based on the preliminary data,the corresponding social work intervention plan was formulated and implemented,and the goal was to relieve the nursing pressure and improve the integration and utilization ability of information and resources of family caregivers by expanding and improving the social support system of family caregivers.To be specific,firstly,the development of social work intervention program,determine the intervention strategy of social support system;Secondly,the multiple roles of social workers should be given full play to expand and improve the social support system of family caregivers and create a safe and supportive living environment for family caregivers through "external resource-internal awareness",which means integrating and linking support resources outward and cultivating awareness of resource identification and utilization inward.Finally,the effects of social work intervention on the extension of family caregivers’ social support system and the relief of caregiver stress were evaluated.After the evaluation of the effect of social work intervention,it is found that the way to improve the exploration and learning ability of family caregivers and the awareness of resource identification and utilization through "outreach resource-endogenous awareness",to expand and improve the social support system,is effective in relieving and channelling the caring pressure of family caregivers of disabled elderly people.At the same time,this study further reflects on the relevant mechanism of social support system and the effect of social support theory applied to practice,and finds that the integration and utilization of information and resources is the key factor for social support to play a role.It is hoped that this study can provide some reference and benefit for the study of social work intervention in family caregivers of disabled elderly people.
