Middle school stage is critical for students’ learning and growing. Manycore concepts in middle school new curriculum standards of chemistryconform to Learning Theory of Constructivism. Meanwhile, characteristics ofchemistry make the subject suitable for the application of Learning Theory ofConstructivism into teaching practices. Properly applying Learning Theory ofConstructivism into teaching practices is beneficial to the implement of newcurriculum standards. By promoting the new curriculum standards andobserving class teaching, it is easy to find that more and more teachers havealready applied Learning Theory of Constructivism to set teaching situationsand develop inquiry teaching method. Is such kind of change in teachingmethod teachers’ conscious behavior or not? The extent of cognition of thetheory would affect the application of the theory as well as its guidingfunction. How do the chemistry teachers of middle school perceive the theory? How to better apply the theory into teaching practices? The author launch theresearch based on the above questions.Firstly, the essay summarizes the meaning of the research from threeaspects: the research is beneficial for promoting the implement of middleschool new curriculum standards of chemistry, for developing the professionalabilities of chemistry teachers and for transformation of students’ learningmethods. Meanwhile, the research also summarizes the development historyof Learning Theory of Constructivism in China’s academic circles, which wasdivided into three stages: introducing the studies, questioning the problemsand carrying out dialectical understanding. The research also gives a briefreview of the literature that combines Learning Theory of Constructivism andchemistry teaching. The essay introduces the viewpoints of Learning Theoryof Constructivism concerning the essence of learning and analyzes theintegrating point of proposes in middle school new curriculum standards ofchemistry, creating learning situations, emphasizing scientific inquiry and cooperative learning, and the Student’s view, knowledge-based view andteaching view of Learning Theory of Constructivism.Secondly, in order to know more about the practices of LearningTheory of Constructivism of chemistry new curriculum standards, basing onthe chemistry teachers in Hohhot as well as other parts of China, theresearcher adopted research methods like questionnaires, interviews andattending the classes. By making use of these methods, the author discoveredthat the theoretical attainment of teachers has greatly improved and they couldshow scientific attitude towards Learning Theory of Constructivism. But it isstill not easy to create teaching situations and the application is also limited.Besides, ways of scientific research should also be developed, especially theway of cooperative learning. In order to drive out more specific results, theauthor has compared regular chemistry classes of five middle schools inHohhot with the national superior middle school chemistry classes in2012(North China competition area). By analyzing the comparison, the authorsummarizes the implement condition of creating teaching situations, scientificinquiry and cooperative learning, especially the main problems of the threeaspects.Thirdly, aiming at the above survey results, the author speciallysummarizes suggestions on Learning Theory of Constructivism in teachingpractice, mainly exploring suggestions on creating teaching situation, scientific inquiry and cooperative learning, including suggestions on creatingteaching situation with chemical history, creating teaching situation with openquestions and scientific inquiry regardless of mistakes, scientific inquiry withrecognition conflicts; students participating in demonstrative experiment;cooperative learning through solving problems and cooperative learningthough Thesis Seminar etc. Moreover, the author specially choosesrepresentative examples in teaching practice. Finally, the author elaboratesepilogue and research introspection and discusses inadequacy in the research.
