Professional athletes are the main participants of competitive sports in China and arethe key for Chinese to acquire glories and applauses in the Olympic Games. As oursocial and sport systems are different from foreign countries, most athletes are trainedunder nationwide system, which makes them become a special group. In recent years,this issue has become the top concern of the society. The training method undernationwide system, to some extent, has formed a complicated social network structureamong Chinese professional athletes.Based on the overall network structure among Chinese athletes, this paper conducts asystematic study on Chinese professional athletes and sets up a analytical frameworkof social network structure. Furthermore, using the survey data acquired from ZhangBa Gou training base of sports bureau of Shanxi Province, this paper makes ananalysis on social network and statistics and reveals the micro, medium-sized andmacro structural features of the overall social network among Chinese professionalathletes.The main content and results of this study are as follows:(1)According to the micro structure of the social network of professional athletes, partof the athletes in the group of social support network has no connections with the restmembers and has no rights in the group.(2)According to the medium-sized structure of the social network of professionalathletes, small groups among athletes in the social support network are scarce, but thegroup types are tremendous, so as a result, there is plenty overlapped members inthese groups, which build up the central position of the group and are more activethan other members.(3)According to the macro structure of the social network of professional athletes,there is embeddedness, or relevance among different social support networks.Generally speaking, Athletes appear more active when they are pursuing socialsupport and more negative when receiving social support.
