In the rapid development of the information society today, during the time ofliving and working, people’s data awareness must be fostered, and there are also somemethods and models of data analysis should be mastered.The 《Curriculum Standards for Mathematics of Compulsory Education》,whichpublished in2011,proposed10core concepts: number sense, symbol sense, the conceptof space, geometric intuition, the concept of data analysis, arithmetic capability,reasoning ability, model thinking, sense of awareness and innovation. As one of the10core concepts, the development of the concept of data analysis is also the students’ coreobjectives in learning statistics and probability in the compulsory education. It isapparent that the concept of data analysis is very important in the stage of compulsoryeducation.So, at present, which level of development on the concept of data analysis do thejunior high school students stay, whether the students have data awareness, masteredthe method of the collected data, identified the information from the data that contains,or selected to suitable data analysis methods according to different condition, and howabout their understanding of data randomness, what problem might have in currentteaching on the training of junior highschool students’ concept of data analysis. Theseall issues call of our concerns.In this Investigation, I sort out the related research of the junior middle schoolstudents’ concepts on data analysis to clear its connotation; investigate the presentsituation of junior middle school students’ concepts on data analysis by the ways ofconducting a questionnaire survey, case interviews, class observation and otherresearch methods, investigated and analyzed the current situation of the junior highschool students’ concepts of data analysis in multiple angles. Through research, theconclusions are as follows: (1) As the teachers’ understanding of the concept of data analysis is notcomprehensive, exam-oriented education neglects the concept of data analysis, theteaching process just boosts students’ knowledge and skills, the Junior high schoolstudents’ concept of data analysis are weak.(2) In the process of teaching, teachers usually focus on the mastery of thecalculation methods, the culture of the concept of data analysis is ignored, lead to thesituation that the junior high school students understand and master the data analysismethod, but the application awareness is weak.(3) Since teachers particular emphasize the concept of frequency and probability inteaching, but not to enable students to experience the randomness in the entire processof data analysis, so the junior highschool students’ understanding of randomness is notcomprehensive.For the above, the author gives some suggestions about teaching in statistics andprobability of the junior level,(1) Create effective data analysis activities, form data awareness;(2) Experience thewhole process of statistical analysis to develop the students’ concepts of dataanalysis;(3) Enriching teaching content, focus on the students’ training of the conceptsof data analysis.
