With the continuous development of information society, wireless communications,especially short-distance wireless local area network is an essential part of theprevalence of smart devices in the current life. With the development of electronictechnology, the Internet of Things will become the next key application of informationnetworks and the Zigbee will play an increasingly important role in the future and willbe prominent in the wireless LAN communication, on which the study and developmentwill surely play an increasingly important role in such fields as industrial control, powermonitoring, household smart devices, and military reconnaissance. Therefore, it is veryurgent to research on the ad hoc network based on Zigbee, which has become theresearch focus on the current global wireless network.The system presented in this thesis is a complete embedded system. Specifically, itis a well-established wireless ad hoc application system based on Zigbee technology,which is developed with the combination of the state-of-the-art wireless ad hoctechnologies, the ARM9microprocessor and the host computer. In detail, it is ARM9and C51that process the application service; it is CC2430that provides wirelessnetwork communications services; and the host computer is used to manage and controlthe core Zigbee communication service. Here, the ARM9microprocessor modeledS3C2440is made by Samsung and planted the WinCE operating system, which is ableto process the extended application of network nodes; the wireless ad hoccommunication chip CC2430is made by TI corp; in addition, the host computer,through which the whole wireless ad hoc network can be controlled and the datamanagement can be completed, is played by one general-purpose computer.The design of this system includes two modules: the hardware subsystem and thesoftware subsystem. The software subsystem focuses on the research of the Zigbeeprotocol stack and the hardware subsystem focuses on the circuit design, wiring andespecially the design of microwave RF circuit. Firstly, the relevant fundamental theorieson Zigbee and its development are introduced. What are given next include therequirement analysis of the system, the overall designing and the outline designing for each module. Afterwards, the design scheme of the hardware and software subsystemsand their implementations are presented in detail. In the end, test and simulation of theentire network system are carried out.In this thesis, the research and design of the ad hoc network’s hardware andsoftware system based on CC2430&Zigbee are implemented. Three networktopologies are presented in this system, including star, tree and mesh topologies, sousers can choose any topology among them to build whatever wireless network theyneed. At the same time, when setting up the network system, users can choose thesimple or the extended terminals according to the application needs. The host computercan manage the entire system network, the network nodes and the network dataintuitively and effectively. Additionally, this system is good at portability, which enablesthis system applied in different areas by simple modifications on the terminal nodes andthe management software on the host computer.
