Steel is an important resource of one country and its development level is one of the important marks of the country’s national economy level. In China, with low informationization degree, information resources utilization rate and utilization level of traditional steel enterprises are not high. Facing the global enterprise management trend of "internationalization, elaboration and informationization", in order to improve the competition ability of the enterprise and win in the fierce competition of the market, China’s steel enterprises have introduced Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) management concept, management theory and management methods, by which, the enterprise can achieve the purpose of business optimization, organization restructuring and management system recombination; and improve the reaction level of enterprise market operation system and speed of enterprise decision-making system, and promote its ability to capture opportunities and avoid market risk under the support of advanced management method.The thesis, taking Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., LTD (hereinafter referred to as TISCO) as an example, firstly analyzes the characteristics and challenges of steel industry, information construction model and course of steel enterprises at home and abroad, deeply discusses the necessity for informatization construction of our country’s steel enterprises and the experiences for informatization implementation on the basis of systematical presentation of the development course of enterprise resource planning (ERP), relevant concepts and characteristics of ERP management concept and management method. Secondly, discusses the background of TISCO information construction and according to the present situation of the enterprise, establishes a project goal and makes a business blueprint design. Thirdly, analyzes the construction process of informationization project from the perspective of project management, and mainly describes the pattern, path and ERP system risk identification and control in TISCO information system construction. Finally, introduces the progress of TISCO informatization construction and its obtained results.
