We are experiencing knowledge economy in 21 century. With the development of global economy integration, enterprises in our country are confronting with severe challenges of economy globalization, prompt development of high technology, and obvious elevation of the importance of knowledge capital in the intense market competition. Human resources have become the key factor in increasing the enterprise’s core competency and internationalization. Human capital has become the most valuable asset in the future development of enterprises. Career management is an important and prospective work in human resources management. It can firm sustainable stimulation to qualified personnel, and make the corporate culture more people-oriented. It can also build up a good training mechanism in the enterprise and make human capital appreciated.As the largest stainless steel manufacturer in the world at present, Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Co. Ltd. (Hereinafter TISCO) needs to further enhancing its competitive edge in its equipping as well as the process technology, products and extended processing of stainless steel. It also needs to strengthen its personnel quality, ability and core competency, in addition to the company development potential, so as to keep its leading role in the global and domestic stainless steel industry, and to set up demonstration factory of energy saving, emissions reduction and circular economy in metallurgical industry, to become the first class enterprise domestically, well-known and the most competitive enterprises group worldwide. Therefore it needs to stimulate its human resource and to promote the effective transformation from human resources to human capital, so as to propel successful realization of career target and enterprises strategy target, finally reaching the harmony and win-win situation between personnel and enterprise.This article explains the importance of career management to TISCO and TISCO staff at first, and then summarizes foreign and domestic theory research and exploration as well as practice on career management, and describing TISCO human resources structure status etc; Basing on the questionnaire survey on personnel career channels and SWOT analysis in career management status, the article points out the main problems existing in TISCO human resources management and its causes. With reference of the advanced experience of foreign and domestic iron and steel enterprises, and considering the actual situation of the enterprises, the article puts forward correct career management ideas, and builds up career management system, trying to set up a“starlight avenue”for technical qualified personnel. Detail research on countermeasures of career management is presented in the article.
