To satisfy the client specially on the oppressive terms on schedule,the contractorhas to adopt concurrent engineering way to organize the works. In this situation whichwidely exists in practice, contractor has to continuously improve the work sequencingto on one hand to satisfy the client and on the other hand to insure the profit. Throughthe analysis and evaluation of the work sequence of Valeo Project, a DependencyStructure Matrix is formed to illuminate the information flow among different trades,based on which furthermore potential re-work risks are identified. To improve thework sequencing, repartition method and tearing method are used. In this particularcase37location of opposite direction information dependency is replaced by7locations of controllable assumptions. Through the research, a principle of designwork sequence is raised up for medium size industry facilities. And the earliest timingof construction commencement and long lead item procurement commencement aresuggested. Those results will benefit the project practice in future works. The methodof dependency structure matrix and the experience summarized would guide the worksequencing arrangement. They will benefit all the shareholders in the project respectto work sequencing, risk identify, work package interface, project programming. Thetool is also effective on analysis and decision making for the shareholders.
