With the advancement of science and technology and the fast change of buyerrequirements, the life cycle of products has been shortened at large. The ratio of perishableproducts to modern products is getting higher and higher. Because of the perishableproducts commonly have the obvious characteristics of long advance-produce-period, shortsell-cycle, and large demand uncertainty. As perishable product life cycle is short, strongseason, making the consumption of such commodities of great uncertainty, this will notonly cause retailers inconvenience, and it will also give providers of inventory managementmuch difficulty, thus enhancing the inventory management of perishable goods in order toregulate the supply and demand effectively is of great significance. In addition, in thecurrent increasingly competitive market environment that emphasis on supply chainmanagement inventory management, although the downstream of supply chain, but oncemastered the downstream demand and inventory information of the providers, we canprovide the upstream production with the useful information that can affect the entiresupply chain. Thus, strategic planning related to inventory management theory and practicehas become an important issue to be resolved. However, through analysis of relatedliterature can be found, the current inventory management for perishable goods either fromresearch or from the breadth and depth, it is far behind the non-perishable productinventory management research, it is difficult for the actual operation produce meaningfulguidance. For this reason, this study will be as perishable goods, the supply chain ofperishable goods corresponding inventory control problem.Through this literature review and field research methods, the use of inventorymanagement, perishable goods theory and the theory of stochastic processes, the in-depthanalysis and research on vendor managed inventory model for perishable goods inventorycontrol problem is given. By analyzing the inventory management literature at home andabroad about perishable goods, a comprehensive overview of this problem is given. For theconstraints of the inventory control cost is minimal, and its ultimate goal is the optimaltotal cost, so the research object of this paper is, from the perspective of cost control, solving the supplier inventory problem. Consider the issue at this point of view, generallythere are three alternative integrated delivery models. But considering the characteristics ofperishable goods as well as the sensitivity of the time, the delivery mode based on the time will be more suitable for the supplier inventory management based on VMI mode. And thismodel is the focus of this dissertation. Assuming that the requirements of downstreamretailers to obey a certain number of random distributions of the premise, a supplier forinventory control model about the perishable goods based on time is established. In order togive a more suitable perishable rate which is in line with actual control needs, thesegmented fuzzy membership function is used to model the rate. By using the inventorymanagement theory and the random process theory, the optimal control strategy will begiven. And this strategy can solve the stochastic demand in the case of retailers, suppliers, delivery and when the corresponding optimal inventory problem. Finally, we use actualsurvey data to verify the model constructed, and the results of sensitivity are analyzed too.Through studying various parameters on the optimal inventory policy and the average costof inventory, the result is as followed. Expected demand per unit time obtained changes thegreatest impact on cost, unit cost of procurement of goods, followed by the otherparameters on the final results are small.
