With the rapid development of the global economy, intermediary business of commercial bank has become the favorite of commercial banks all over the world for its low-risk and high-income. Especially in the developed countries, it has become the primary source of revenue and profit of banks. But in less-developed areas in western country intermediary business develops slowly and still in the low level due to inadequate attention and so on. Therefore, to develop intermediary business is the world’s overall trend in the banking industry, and it is very important for healthy development of commercial banks in western China as well as for enhancing the core competitiveness of commercial banks.As a manager of Bank of China Guangyuan branch, I will analyze the problems and measures of the intermediary business by using the knowledge of EMBA and combining the actual situation of less-developed areas in China through the example of Bank of China Guangyuan branch.The paper will be divided into five chapters.Chapter 1 is the overview about development of the intermediary business of commercial banks in less-developed areas in western China. Firstly, the distance of intermediary business between the western countries and our country is stated, and then the status quo of intermediary business development in western less-developed areas is presented.Chapter 2 is the importance of developing the intermediary business for commercial banks. At first, the importance of developing the intermediary business for commercial banks is stated, and then importance of developing the intermediary business of commercial banks less-developed areas in western China is elaborated. Chapter 3 is the problems and status of intermediary business of Bank of China Guangyuan branch. Firstly, the development of intermediary business in Bank of China Guangyuan branch is introduced, and then the main problems in the development of intermediary business are analyzed in following aspects, such as fewer species of intermediary business, single means, the lack of unified standard in management, old concepts and bias in recognizing.Chapter 4 is the analysis about intermediary business of Bank of China Guangyuan branch. First of all, the financial eco-environmental characteristics of western less-developed areas and the status quo of intermediary business of the main commercial banks in Guangyuan is introduced and analyzes the competition of intermediary business among the mainly commercial banks in Guangyuan. And then, the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that Bank of China Guangyuan branch will be faced is analyzed from both internal and external factors.Chapter 5 is the suggestions of intermediary business development for commercial banks in Guangyuan City. On the basis of the previous chapter, firstly, this chapter chooses the appropriate strategy for Bank of China Guangyuan branch by the analysis of the third chapter. Then, it gives more detailed suggestions from the analysis of all the following aspects, such as changing concept, improving the management system, developing potential customers, enhancing product innovation and so on.In this paper, the development of intermediary business in western less-developed areas in our country is discussed by the example of the Bank of China Guangyuan branch. I hope this paper can provide a reference for the industry. Moreover, we can improve the domestic conditions, accelerate the pace of the development of the intermediary business and make commercial banks in China’s less developed areas change to modern business model.There are errors and omissions in the text due to my limited knowledge, any comment you care to make would be highly appreciated.
