Service industry has now become the most potential industry in the global economy. Owing to the close relationship with it, service trade has become an emerging force with unlimited potential and it has even become the focus of competition in international trade and the new engine of world economic growth.In recent years, China’s service trade has increased significantly. China has been playing a more and more important role throughout the world in terms of service trade and service trade has become more crucial to China’s economic growth. However, China’s service trade has been quantity-oriented and ignored its structure optimization, resulting in numerous problems of the export structure of China’s service trade. In China, the export of service is mainly the low value-added traditional services featuring in labor intensive service and resource intensive service, less the high value-added new services featuring the knowledge, technology and capital-intensive service. The export market of service trade is over concentrated and the main markets are Hong Kong, the United States, Japan, Korea and the European Union. These problems bring China’s service trade being at the low level the international division of labor and being in an inferior status in international competition. Therefore, it is vital for us to study on how to solve the mentioned problems, how to optimize the service exporting structure and how to boost the international competitiveness of service trade.Based on the static comparative advantage theory, the dynamic comparative advantage theory and the endogenous comparative advantage theory, the current situation, characteristics and problems of export structure of China’s service trade is studied in this paper by analyzing the international market share, Lawrence index, profitability index and the concentration index structure. With the combination of gray associated theory and regression analysis, the main influence factors of upgrading the export structure of China’s service trade are also studied in this paper, showing the direction of upgrading export structure of China’s service trade.This paper includes six chapters. Chapter one is about the background, signifi-cance, review of literature, main content, framework and research methods. Chapter two includes the theoretical basis of optimizing the export structure of China’s service trade, such as the static comparative advantage theory, the dynamic comparative advantage theory, the national competitive advantage theory and so on. In chapter three, an in-depth analysis of the current situation and the structural feature of China’s exports of services is conducted and the problems of the export structure of China’s service trade are pointed out. In chapter four, the international competitiveness of China’s service export and the changes of its export structure are discussed by analyzing the TC index, RCA index, Lawrence index and other related indexes. The main influence factors of upgrading the export structure of China’s service trade are showed in chapter five through gray associated theory and regression analysis. The results show that technological progress and human capital are beneficial to optimization and upgrade of China’s service export structure. In chapter six, the solutions of optimizing China’s service export structure are put forward based on theoretical and empirical analysis, in order to enhance the export competitiveness of China’s service trade and promote the harmonious steady growth of China’s economy.
