Research Of Path And Countermeasures On Promoting The Optimization Of Foreign Trade Structure Of Fujian Province

Since China’s reform and opening up, as one of the three important engines of economic development, the foreign trade of Fujian has undergone a rapid development. In this period, the rapid development of foreign trade in Fujian Province trade has not only made remarkable achievements with lower price in the international market relying on its comparative advantages such as resources, labors, etc but also played an irreplaceable role on the promotion of economic growth, creating jobs. However, the trade strategy of low prices leads to a low level and irrational trade structure. Due to the irrational trade structure, Fujian frequently suffers the influence of the trade friction events. For example, in the period of January to July of the year 2013, Fujian Province suffered a total of 34 "two against one guarantee" foreign trade remedy investigations which accounted for 60% of the whole events that China suffered. Under the circumstances that the world’s developing mode tending to greenization and low-carbonization, competition in the international market more intensified and trade protectionism increasing, it’s urgent that the trade structure of Fujian should be promoted to a higher level.Optimizing the trade structure is the route that Fujian must take to become trading power and realize the sustainable development of foreign trade. Considering that, this thesis applies theoretical and empirical methods to study how to optimize the trade structure of Fujian province. Firstly, the thesis sorts out, analyzes and summarizes relevant literatures on foreign trade structure, and then to identify the starting point. Secondly, analyzes relevant theories of trade and industrial structure to select the factors affecting the structure of foreign trade, explains the connotation of optimizing the trade structure, and then analyzes how these factors affect the industrial and foreign trade structure. Thirdly, this thesis studies the characteristics and problems of the foreign trade development in recent years, and analyzes why the foreign trade structure level is not high. Fourthly, construct the optimization evaluating system of Fujian is industrial structure and process the indicators with factor analysis method. Then select some variables to represent the optimization of foreign trade structure including commodity structure and trade mode structure. Next, use econometric methods such as con-integration test, Granger causality test to study the correlation between industrial upgrading and optimizing of trade structure. Finally, learn some experience from Japan for reference on how its industrial restructuring in the period of 1945s to 1990s to promote the optimization of foreign trade structure and then proposes potential measures for the actual optimization of Fujian’s trade structure.
