In the 70s or 80s of the 20th century, the objective reality of the world’seconomic development showed us that the economic growth rate with abundantresources is much slower than the others with poor resources. Theoretical circlesregional economic development ultimately because of the resource-rich by theshackles of economic phenomena, called "resource trap" phenomenon. Guizhou isthe rich-resource area. It has provided an amount of valuable mineral resources andenergy for the construction of china. Guizhou is one of the important resourceoutput Provinces. However, Guizhou is the underdeveloped area with lower GDP. Ina word, Guizhou is a typical province plagued by the phenomenon of "resourcetrap".This paper is divided into seven parts. The first part introduced the concept of"resource trap" and pointed out that this phenomenon is widespread both at homeand abroad. The second part of the "resource trap" at home and abroad werereviewed and summarized, and pointed out some inadequacies in the domesticresearch. The third part of the status of resource endowments in Guizhou focused onthe role of the resource-based industries in the economy of Guizhou, theresource-based industries is the key sectors to restrict the economic and socialdevelopment in Guizhou. In the fourth part, I used panel data of 1997- 2009 to provethat the phenomenon of "resource trap" exist in Guizhou. A significant establisheduse of the 1997 - 2009 the Guizhou time sequence data proved resource factors andeconomic growth has a significant negative correlation Guizhou is a typical "resourcetrap" provinces. In part V and part VI, I demonstrated theoretically and practically conductionmechanisms of "resource trap" in Guizhou. The mechanisms included "Dutchdisease", Chinese economic data. Transmission mechanisms of ’’resource curse’’ inGuizhou are ’’Dutch disease’’, decreasing investment in human capital, reducedmotivation of Technological Innovation, the damage to ecological environment. Finally, I provide four effective ways to escape ’’resource curse’’. First,The government should upgrade the development of regional industrial structure.Second, the government should enhance resource-based regional levels of humancapital in Guizhou. The third, the government should establish Guizhou regionaltechnological innovation system. At last, the government should establish andimprove the ecological compensation mechanism.
