| In this article, we study the new product development process via a projectnamed N90for a dominating smart phone maker. During the different stages of thisproject, we need to develop different communication skills for better communicationmanagement. To futher study, we mainly focus on below: who you communicate with,what to communicate, and how to communicate. Especially in the current competitionbackground, when the market demand is so hot and everyone eager to get a smartphone, with a new product, manufacturers need to cooperate with the customers in amanner spread out development works. however, to fulfill the strong demand,multiple production site is needed for manufacturers. Under this circumstance,communication management is one of the most important factor to decide projectsuccess. Communication management will lead the result, a good communicationmanagement could transfer the successful development experience to massproduction phase, also, a good communication management could make the multipleproduction site works and fulfill the customer demand stably with great volume ofgoods in short time.First, briefly introduce N90project, including customer culture, customerrequirement, product characteristics, and development master schedule analysis,further study the classification and the characteristic of the different stages ofdevelopment. Then elaborates the analysis of the difference and relevancy withcommunication management object in different development stage.Then,due to our customer is leading the smart phone market, its product sellinghot all over the world, thus enabling customer in a leadership position throughout thedevelopment period. Therefore, customer decide the development period, productspec, art of manufacturing and the material selection. As a downstream manufacturer in the industry chain, the innovation and the independence is observed on developingone or several process to make their dreaming product out, and those are based onwealth of manufacturing experience to provide customer with the constructive adviceand solution.Third,to further discuss the different models of communication management indifferent product development stages. How to conduct communication managementso we could move on next stage successfully in time, and make sure to pull togetherall of the resources to save operation cost. So the project could run under aduration,compact, orderly and low consumption way to ensure the project to achievethe overall goal.In the project development stage, because of various design options,also designchange often),a rapid reaction communication system is needed. Communicationmanagement object limit in R&D team, production unit only provide the productionresoruces, such as mechanical equipment, production sites, raw materials, labors andso on.In the perfection process, due to the design was freezed, customer change theirfocus to optimize the final design and sloved engineering issues, at this point of time,communication management is mainly focus on pulling all the production resourcestogether to support technician so they could slove engineering issues. Besides, need tostart a series of preparatory work for mass production, including order confirmation,MPS formulation, machinery and equipment/material/production sites/humanpreparation etc.When shift to MP, communication management change to focus on sharing thedevelopment experience and making sure ramp smoothly, to copy successfulexperiences in development stages to ramp stages, and finally make sure the qualityfrom two sites are all in the same qulified excellent level. |
