Rational land use pattern formed by a city is mapped by different requirements of a variety of economic activities and the living layers. With the increasing scarcity and land use contradictions faced by, people began to concern the optimal pattern of urban land use from the view of economic, social, and ecological point. Land use is a process that the material, energy, value and information exchange and converse continuously with the carrier of land. Through land use planning, we organize and arrange these activities and processes to keep the human-land system in a dynamic balance and achieve the coordinated development of population, resources, environment and economy. Therefore, during building land use equilibrium model, four basic principles should be adhered to:optimaling land use structure to maximize the social, economic and ecological benefits; improving the urban spatial layout to build a livable life carrier; focusing on equity and efficiency to promote the comprehensive development of the region; insist on sustainable land use by land use planning. This paper is narrated combining previous theory and example of Quanzhou actual situation closely to explore a suitable land use equilibrium model. It consists of three parts.(1)The first part introduces the research background, significance and ideas. And then briefly introduces the socio-economic conditions of study area,(2)The second part explores the land use equilibrium model in the case of Quanzhou. Land use status is analysised by the method of landscape index. Then construction land suitability maps is get by the technology of GIS, and the control of construction land classification and land potential are further analysised. Finally combined of fundamental analysis above, land use equilibrium model is studied from four angles of the structure, space, timing and, area.(3)The third part puts forward some protection measures and development proposals for the operation of the study area land use equilibrium, then points the lack of this research and developing space. The suitability of construction land and land potential in micro/meso scale regional are analysised with limited land information and GIS technology. Base on the theoretical study, we verify the study by the case of Quanzhou central city, reaching following conclusions:(1) The central city of Quanzhou expansion by the way of concentric circles edge and flogleap. There are extensive mining land and scattered rural residential layout. The central city district faces the dual challenges of the lack of available land for--construction and ecological protection.(2) The distribution of suitability of land construction in the study area shows increasing trend southward, and is consistent with the topography and development status of the study area. There is8397.0hm2stock construction land to be excavated and37022.9hm" incremental construction land to be sustainable developed.(3) The paper takes full account of economic, social and ecological benefits of the central city land use in the land equilibrium model study. It adopts the way of split-integrated thinking and supports the equilibrium direction of land construction, space, area and timing. Land equilibrium model can effectively optimize the landscape layout and enhance the value of ecosystem services.
